The Sahassavatthupakaraṇa III

Peter Masefield

Abstract

The Sahassavatthupakaraṇa, “An Anthology of Amusing Tales”, was composed by a certain Raṭṭhapāla of the Guttavaṅka monastery in Sri Lanka, probably sometime between 900 and 1250 CE. Its oldest surviving manuscripts date to the 16th century; this is the third installment of these short, translated stories. For Parts I and II, see JOCBS 21 and 22.
